A new main rail link for Stockholm
In the heart of Stockholm, the main rail link from Gamla Stan island to Södermalm, used by trains every three minutes, has been overhauled. For this purpose, two rail bridges, one 210 meters and one 50 meters long, including bridge bearings, had to be replaced during a tightly scheduled traffic shutdown.
For this time-critical work, Implenia Sweden contracted us to construct temporary support points for the two bridges. Heavy-load installation under water is challenging enough but in addition the individual auxiliary bearings, communicating hydraulically, had to lift the entire 210-meter-long bridge and set it down again later. For the complex bearing refurbishment of the 50-meter-long steel bridge, we first raised this component 1.5 meters after insertion and lowered it again two weeks later.
As a full-service provider in Stockholm, we were able to help our client meet the tight schedule and hand over the structure on time.
