Construction of collector
Linear Shoring ensures large, safeworking area
In Badajoz, a provincial capital in western Spain, the company COPISA Constructora Pirenaica is constructing a good 800 meters long collector and several rainwater reservoirs. The work is being carried out on behalf of the ministry for agriculture, nutrition and the environment. The costs total almost €13 million and construction is scheduled to take nine months.
To secure the construction trench needed to build the collector, the contractor is using overlapping Linear Shoring from Emunds+Staudinger, a proprietary brand of thyssenkrupp Infrastructure. The decision paid off , not only in terms of safety. Particularly the use of U-version boogie cars and the ability to raise them upwards in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications ensures there is sufficient working space to lay the large-diameter pipes.
The efficiency of the central sewage system was due to be increased in the long term, primarily based on forecasts regarding population growth in the city of Badajoz. Another reason to forge ahead with the project was the expectation of torrential rainfall events in the foreseeable future. Two rainwater reservoirs, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters, are intended to ensure that the required capacities are available in the years to come. Moreover, a new 815 meters long DN 2000 collector is scheduled for installation. The 5 to 6 meters deep construction trench has a clearance width of 2.75 meters and is secured by the overlapping Linear Shoring.
A total of 18 units of the Linear Shoring system, each 4 meters long, were deployed in the construction trench, which was up to 6 meters deep.
Plenty of working space
In Badajoz, a total of 18 units of the shoring system were deployed, each 4 meters long. The use of the U-version boogie car ensures maximum pipe culvert height and exceptional exibility on the construction site. The component has outstanding structural properties and is extremely resilient. Depending on requirements, the boogie car can be steplessly used in conjunction with structural standards at various stages of construction.
Its U-shaped design enables enormous cantilever lengths that make very large pipe culvert heights possible. This in turn generates a range of technical and economic advantages for the equipment and vehicles used at the construction site during the installation and removal of the shoring. The construction partners are definitely unanimous about the bene ts of using this type of shoring system, as both the system itself and the sound technical advice provided on-site contributed to reducing costs at the construction site overall.
